I have over time acquired services of numerous travel and safari agencies, however Engagi Safaris has superseded the rest.
Kudos Ian Wright Traveller website.
I was traveling in Uganda and Rwanda with a friend. We had problems with the first guide and driver (two persons) we hired back in Kampala. By the time we made it to Kabale, it was evident that we had no option but change them for a more professional service provider if we wanted to continue our travel without sacrificing what remained of our travel plans, mostly Rwanda. From the moment we stepped in Engagi's office (and very good restaurant) we were in the hands of probably the most professional tour operator. I have come across during my extensive travels all around the world from SE Asia to Central America and many other places. First we booked a day hike with Engagi in the mountains surrounding Kabale and on Lake Bunyonyi with Engagi's local guide.
The next morning we hit the road with Robert, Engagi's co-owner in a four wheel drive in excellent condition. The time we spent with Robert, who was our driver and guide in one person in Rwanda and Uganda during the following four days (three in Rwanda and one in Uganda) was just perfect.
He took care of everything in the most professional manner, arranged accommodation on the way, took care of border procedures, shared his extensive knowledge on the history, ecology and culture of both countries and helped with whatever personal requests we had, no matter how improvised they may have been. I will remain grateful for him not only for saving our trip, but also for adding so much to it.
I highly recommend Engagi for anyone planning travels in the region.
We have just returned home after a 3 week tour around Uganda during February 2016. We have visited Pian Upe, Manyatta, Kidepo, Murchison, QEP, Kibale, Bwindi, Mhingha, Batwa and Lake Mburo. In total, we counted at least 10 game-drives but it could have been more. Our trip was organized by Engagi Safaris. This was the best choice we could have made. Robert and team were very responsive to our many questions and were really engaged and committed to help us make the best itinary. Robert is very good company and we had a lot of fun with him driving us around for 3 weeks. Throughout that period, he was always thinkingabout maximizing our experience and fine-tuning our trip. He is a highly knowledgeable guide himself, but we found it also very good he had provided a local ranger on each game drive. The UWA rangers are enthusiastic connaisseurs and protectors of nature and provide the additional local knowledge. We stayed alternatively in UWA Bandas and medium-class hotels, and Engagi choose those which provided very scenic views. This alternating of accommodations was perfect, because the Bandas are basic but close to nature, and the hotels thereafter provide a welcome variation. We visited a lot of Natural Parks and did game-drives in each. But each of them provided different scenario and wildlife and each time it was quite different. All transportation was by car, which can take time due to road-conditions, but it is THE way to see how people live in Uganda. We had many interesting encounters with people who lived along the road and how they made their living. Robert bought us fresh fruits many times, and never pushed us to buy anything. He is very positive and patient with his customers. The country is safe to travel, and Western governments seem overly cautious in their advices. The people themselves are very very friendly and hospitable. As tourist you get a lot of attention, and they will follow you around, but without being pushy or asking for favors. We would recommend Uganda and Engagi Safaris to anyone, it is really the pearl of Africa. https://www.tripadvisor.in/ShowUserReviews-g673829-d7365254-r354655187-Engagi_Safaris_Day_Tours-Kabale_Western_Region.
Words cannot describe what an amazing time we had on our 8 day trip to Uganda & Rwanda, and this was all thanks to Robert and Engagi Safaris. Form the start, when we first took an interest in booking a trip with Engagi Safari's Robert was very well organised and responded to my questions (of which there were many) in a very timely manner. I was very unsure about where I wanted to go on the trip and Robert was extremely helpful and asked me what I wanted to get out of the trip and we could go from there. Like most travellers to Uganda or Rwanda the most important thing for me was to see the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Once we had settled on a plan Robert made sure that I knew that he was very flexible and should we want to alter the trip we would be able to do so whilst we were on the safari (apart from the Chimpanzees and Gorillas as these were booked well in advance). Once we had arrived, Robert picked us up in a lovely comfortable safari vehicle equipt with 4 plug sockets (which became very useful for charging phones and cameras) and WIFI which was fantastic! Robert was aware that I was keen to take lots of photographs of the scenery and my partner and I had brought our drone so that we could take some ariel photographs of the scenery. Form the outset he said that we should tell him whenever we wanted to take a photo and he would stop the vehicle for us. I have been on other safari's in Africa and India and I have never once felt comfortable stopping the driver so that I can take a photo - this was really important to me as I was dead set on coming home with some good photos from the trip. Robert knew all the best photo stops and we got some fantastic photos all thanks to him. We stayed in several lodges during our trip and we would recommend all of them particularly Roberts place on Lake Bunyonyi, this is probably one of the most beautiful lodges I have every been to, built on the banks of the lake. Robert and his wife were extremely accommodating and cooked us great food and made sure our night there was as comfortable as possible. During the last leg of our trip we changed our minds about where we wanted to go and Robert was indeed very flexible, he wanted to make sure we got exactly want we wanted out of our trip and was very willing to make changes to our itinerary so that we saw everything we wanted to see. Robert as a person is extremely relaxed and friendly, he was truely the most fantastic tour guide ever and having him with us on the trip made it extra special. We always felt safe whilst he was driving, he was a very sensible driver and never took any risks. He was extremely knowledgeable about the countries and we learnt a lot from him about local life and the wildlife. We got into some bother at the end with the police (due to using the drone) and way he handled it was absolutely fantastic. Thank you Robert for making sure we had the best possible holiday - we will be back for another adventure soon!

We did a 10 day trip with ES in Uganda in May. Sadly we had some health issues but Robbert and Kenneth took real good care of us.
I was looking for a local tour company out of Kabale to take me on a customized tour of 3-4 days. Robert Basiima was so responsive with my inquiries and planning the trip.
