17 Days Uganda & Tanzania Safari

This 17-day Uganda and Tanzania Safari is an exceptional package introducing the best of Uganda and Tanzania. The destinations to visit in Uganda include, Murchison Falls, Mgahinga Gorilla, Queen Elizabeth, Kibale Forest, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Lake Bunyonyi. You will also visit to see the shoebill stork and also do optional lion tracking in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1.  Arrival & transfer to the hotel- Mabamba Wetland Tour

You will be picked up by our experienced driver guide upon arrival at the airport, have a short briefing about the trip, and then proceed to the hotel for refreshments. In the afternoon, for a tour of Mabamba wetland home to the rare shoebill stork and many other bird species. Enjoy a canoe ride in the swamp as you search for the famous birds. Dinner and overnight at Victoria Rock Resort

Day 2: Ziwa tracking – transfer to Murchison Falls – hike to the top of the falls

Rise early, have breakfast, and start the drive headed to northwestern Uganda. Have a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongora for a meet-up with the critically endangered Rhinos. This is the only place to see rhinos in Uganda. Have lunch en route and proceed to Murchison Falls National Park arriving in the evening. Enjoy a hike to the top of the mighty Murchison Falls which will provide you with great views of the strong falls, the Nile, and wildlife in the park. Dinner and overnight at Pakuba Safari Lodge

Day 3: Game Drive & Boat Cruise

Go for early morning game drives in the northern part of Murchison Falls Park. There you will see various wild animals which include Giraffes, Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Waterbucks, Warhogs Impalas, Oribis, Topis, Uganda kobs, and Gazelles among others.  Early hours is the best time to catch up with early risers hunting, grazing and browsing.  You can also catchup with nocturnal animals returning from night hunts. Return to the lodge for late lunch breakfast and early lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise to the bottom of the mighty falls. Look out for wild water animals and birds at the river banks. The cruise also offer you with spectacular views of how the string Nile waters dropoff the 43 meters cliff into the davils pool forming a permanent rainbow. Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

You can have an optional morning game drive to see some of wild animals you might have missed on the previous day. Thereafter, check out and drive out of Murchison Falls Par headed to kibale Forest National Park. Dinner and overnight at Chimpanzee Forest Lodge

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking &– Bigodi wetland walk

After an early morning cup of coffee, carry your packed lunch and transfer to Kanyanchu visitor information Centre for briefing and registration, The   chimpanzee trekking experience begins at 8:00m and can be as short as 30 minutes or last for over 5 hours depending on your speed of hiking and the location of chimpanzees. You will be allowed to spend an hour in the presence of the chimpanzees. In the evening go for a nature walk in Bigodi wetland which shelters several birds, primates and other ground animals. Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park – Evening boat cruise

Enjoy your last moments in Kibale Forest National park, have breakfast, check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second largest park. Check in, refresh and relax. In the evening, embark on a boat cruise at Kazinga channel which connects Lakes Edward and George. Enjoy the cold breeze and exceptional views of wild water animals resting on the river banks. Day 7: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Have a relaxed morning breakfast, get your bags ready and drive out of Queen Elizabeth National park headed to Lake Bunyonyi located in southwestern Uganda. The drive through the Ishasha sector offers you the chance to see the rare tree-climbing lions seen up in the fig and acacia trees.  Have lunch en route as you drive through local communities and trading centers and opportunity to meet and interact with local people. Arrive in the afternoon, check-in and refresh. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort

 

Day 8 Mountain Gorilla Trekking

Following a heavy breakfast, get your packed lunch and drive to Ruhija Park headquarters of Bwindi Forest for registration and pre-gorilla trekking briefing. You will grouped with seven other travelers and allocated a gorilla family to trek. You will be given one of the 21 gorilla families in Bwindi Forest for trekking.  At 8:00 am, start the hike uphill in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. The strenuous hike can last for between 2 to 7 hours but you are 90% sure of meeting the gorillas at the end of the trek. After meeting them, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence. Take close pictures, capture live videos, and enjoy this lifetime experience. Later in the evening transfer to Kisoro for dinner and overnight at Travelers Rest Hotel

Day 9: Golden Monkey Trekking

Wake up early, have a well-spiced cup of coffee, and with your packed lunch transfer to Ntebeko Visitor Information Center in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. There you be registered and briefed on the dos, don’ts, and general expectations of golden monkey trekking. The trek begins at 8:00 am lasting from between 30 minutes to over 5 hours. You are however sure of meeting the lively primates. Enjoy an encounter with these playful creatures in their natural habits learn about their social life and enjoy this magical encounter.  After on, drive to Bunyonyi for dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort

Day 10: Transfer to Entebbe

Enjoy a sunrise breakfast on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi, check out, and embark on a drive to Kampala. Relax and spend an overnight at Victoria Rock Resort Entebbe

 

ay 11:  Fly to Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania & transfer to Arusha

Have an early morning breakfast and transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your connecting flight to Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania. From there, drive to Arusha City. You can have an optional tour in the city center. Dinner and overnight at Charity Hotel Arusha

Day 12: Tarangire National Park

Today you explore Tarangire National Park located in Tanzania’s Manyara Region. Tarangire National Park is the 6th largest park in Tanzania famous for hosting large herds of Elephants. Expect to see wild animals such as Elephants, Buffalos, Wildebeest, Zebras, Giraffes, spotted Hyenas, Cheetah, Wild dogs, and lions among others. The par is named after the Tarangire River which flows in its heart.  The top activities done in Tarangire National Park include game viewing, nature walks, cultural visits, and bird watching. Overnight stay in Mutowambu

 Day 13:   Transfer to Serengeti National Park – Evening game drive

Following a heavy breakfast, check out and start the drive headed to Serengeti National Park. You will have an en-route visit to the Masai villages in Ngorongoro Conservation Area for a rich cultural experience. The cultural tour is an opportunity to meet with local people who share their traditions, norms, customs and beliefs.  You can also take part in some cultural practices such as traditional dances which make you feel part of the community. Later on, proceed to Serengeti National Park arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at TAJ Rest House

Day 14: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Your breakfast will be served early and then head to the Central Serengeti to spend your day observing the different wildlife species. The major highlight of this day is the visit to the Seronera Valley where you will have a chance to watch a variety of wildlife including Hyenas, Leopards, Lions, Buffalos, Hippos, Topis, Giraffes, and Gazelles among others. Our guides will take you to the best game viewing spots to catch up with all the available wildlife.  Return to the lodge later for your dinner and overnight at Sound of Nature Lodge

Day 15: Another full-day game drive

Spend this second day also exploring the treasures in Serengeti National Park. Drive to a section of Serengeti Park different from the one on the previous day to see some wild animals you might have missed on the previous day. Enjoy spectacular views of numerous wild animals, including Wildebeests, Giraffes, Zebras, Lions, Leopards Hyenas, Hippos, Elands, Waterbucks, Warhogs, and Gazelles.  Game viewing, Hot air balloons, picnic lunch, nature walks, bird watching, and community tours are the popular activities done in Serengeti National Park.  Dinner and overnight at Sound of Nature Lodge

Day 16:  Explore Ngorongoro National Park

Early today, drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a game-viewing experience in the open side of this conservation area. Predators like the lions, jackals, hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs dominate this area, and other antelopes, buffalos, zebras, rhinos, hippos, wildebeests, waterbucks, gazelles and many bird species are also seen here. You will have a bush lunch and embark on a full-day excursion into this natural habitat for various wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Siafu Serenity Lodge

Day 17: Transfer to Kilimanjaro for Departure

Have a relaxed breakfast and transfer to Kilimanjaro for your departure flight. En route visit some gift shops to buy crafts and other handmade products to take home. Proceed to Kilimanjaro airport to catch up with your connecting flight
