The park is made up of four sectors; Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo and each of them has accommodation facilities ranging from Luxury, Mid-range, budget, and campsites.

Buhoma

It was the first sector to open up for gorilla trekking in 1993 and it is the most developed among the 4 sectors of Bwindi. It is nestled in the northern region of the park and the most familiar sector to the visitors to Uganda because it has less terrain and so easy to hike. The permits for this sector are on high demand they are sold out quickly as compared to other sectors. It has numerous accommodations ranging from luxury, mid-range to budget.

Luxury Accommodations

  • Mahogany Springs Lodge

It is situated on the pristine waters of the Munyanga River with a unique natural setting and facing the Bwindi Impenetrable forest. The lodge has exotic gardens and intricately designed stone pathways leading to the river which invite you to explore every corner of this magical place uncovering the various surprises along the way such as the Homegrown vegetable garden.

  • Trackers Safari Lodge

It is located on the hilltop overlooking the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Buhoma and is only four minutes’ drive to the gorilla tracking briefing area. The lodge exudes the romance and beauty of a mighty Bwindi Forest while offering every modern comfort and convenience.

Expect luxurious accommodation, exceptional cuisine, welcoming service, and thrilling gorilla viewing combine to create an unforgettable luxury safari experience. It has seven (7) double and two (2) family cottages, and four (4) twin cottages, with King size beds with orthopedic mattresses and state of art bathrooms

  • Engagi Lodge

It is a modern lodge in a breathtaking setting offering stunning views over the forest canopy. The lodge is situated in a large tract of land contiguous to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and runs from the main road to the Park Headquarters down to the Munyaga River. The lodge has been built using local materials and a local workforce. It is constructed from rocks found in and around the site and eucalyptus trees while the rooms are thatched from banana fiber sourced from local farmers.

The main lodge building is divided into a bar cum sitting room, the dining room, and a large outdoor verandah viewing platform. The lodge building is big enough to cater for larger groups but still allows for smaller individual groups to spread out in the various different areas for privacy.

The lodge is open-ended at the front allowing a dramatic view of the Bwindi forest from every corner inside the building.

The kitchen, built away from the lodge to ensure privacy, prepares a variety of 3-course meals and clients’ requirements (eg. Vegetarians) catered for by our team of experienced Kampala trained chefs.

The lodge consists of just 8 en-suite cottages, spaced out and hidden in the foliage. Each cottage has either double or twin beds, a bathroom with flushing toilets and hot and cold running water. All have private verandahs where guests can enjoy their morning tea or coffee as they watch out over the forest canopy.

Electricity is provided by solar power with a back-up generator. Hot water is supplied by eco-friendly wood burning boilers.

The main reception area has been built up near the Buhoma road and we have a large secure car-park; both of these are a good distance away from the main lodge buildings.

Clients can walk around the lodge down to the river, viewing the birdlife and flora of the area.

  • Bwindi Volcanoes Lodge

This finest lodge overlooks the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, with dramatic intense views of the forest canopy across a serene stream, it is one of Africa’s unique lodges.

  • Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Lodge

Set on a flat ridge, deep within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is a remote and atmospheric mountain sanctuary. The only accommodation located within the national park, the camp boasts an unrivaled location with exceptional wildlife and birdlife viewing opportunities.   • Silverback Lodge

Silverback Lodge is perched on top of the valley overlooking Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. A prime location with sweeping views of the valley and forests. The lodge’s spacious site lies above Buhoma village, a 5-minute drive from the main road, and this elevated location guarantees best views across Bwindi Impenetrable National Park This lodge cater for clients interested in something more than budget accommodation.

Currently offers 2 beautifully designed twin/double cottages and 1 family cottage, all self-contained (ensuite) Mosquito nets and merging simple elegance with local materials.

Restaurant/well-stocked bar serves 5-course meals blending Western and African cuisine, prepared by Ugandan chefs using locally grown products. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Buhoma Community Rest Camp

It is located near Buhoma Haven Lodge, consisting of 6 well-furnished and self-contained (ensuite) safari tents, 3 self-contained cottages, and 2 non-self-contained twin cottage bandas. All bandas are built with local materials and are of African architectural design. We also offer guests a 6-bed dormitory as well as several campsites. Serve Western and African cuisine prepared by Ugandan chefs using locally grown products. It offers the same amenities as the above facility.

CTPH Gorilla conservation camp

It is located on the edge of the beautiful Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a stunning panoramic view of the top of the Forest adjacent to CTPH’s Gorilla Health and Community Conservation Centre. The camp offers rustic and comfortable accommodation for tourists, students and researchers, and profits go towards supporting our gorilla conservation efforts on the ground. RUHIJA

It is located in the eastern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Impenetrable National Park with 3 habituated gorilla families; Oruzogo, Bitukura, and Kyaguliro. There are a number of accommodations in this area ranging from Luxury, Mid-range, and budget.

Gorilla Mist Lodge

It is also located near one of the best swamps known for birding safaris, with unique species like African green broadbill (Where this species only nests in the whole of Africa). Trekker’s Tavern Cottages is one of the most astounding lodges in Bwindi impenetrable national park, situated  2 km from the park headquarters. A place of infinite calm surrounded by untamed majesty and commanding panoramic views of the Virungas on a clear day, the beautiful sunrise, Lake Edward and Bwindi forest in the south.

It has elegant guest rooms, Wildlife is the main focus from an architect’s perspective, and so all the rooms have a suitable view of Birds, Gorillas, chimpanzee. The choice of accommodation at the lodge varies.

Cuckoo land tented lodge

Cuckooland is around 2 km from the nearest other dwellings, the small settlement of Murushasha, Ruhija and equally far from the road, so visitors are assured of complete tranquillity with the only sounds being those of the forest. It is conveniently situated 15 km (30-40mins) from Ruija, the nearest gorilla tracking station. It is a small, comfortable mid-range lodge in a spectacular setting, right on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, with superb views overlooking the forest.

The facility is built almost entirely of locally sourced natural materials, accommodation consists of 4 spacious comfortably furnished double tents, built on wooden platforms with a thatched roof and large veranda. Each unit is complete with its own toilet, and shower, with hot water and is situated less than 20 meters from the edge of the forest, providing a wonderful vantage point for viewing the prolific birdlife and different primates which are especially drawn to the fruiting trees at the forest edge.

The restaurant, sited with a commanding view of the surrounding forest, serves delicious food incorporating many of the organic fruit and vegetables that are grown on the site.

Broadbill forest camp

Broadbill Forest camp is located at the very edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, encouraging birding on your balcony for the rare Albertine Rift Valley endemics in the east of the forest. Even after a long day’s safari, you will not be tempted to put your binoculars at rest.

The camp derives its name from the endemic African Green Broadbill. It is calm and peaceful with fantastic views of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest making it a perfect place to totally unwind and relax, away from the pressures and stresses of everyday life.

There are four en suite tents which are beautifully and comfortably furnished. There is also a dining room, a bar, and a fireplace.

The staff are friendly and trained to meet international standards and will do everything possible to make you feel at home. The food is professionally prepared by our chefs.

Vegetarian diets are available on request. The camp also has wheelchair access for people with disabilities.

Budget

Ruhija community rest camp

It is a beautiful community based, self-sustainable enclosure, adjacent to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park opposite ITFC offices, just at the edge of the forest where Gorilla trekking takes place.

It is an ideal place to stay when going to trek the mountain gorillas in the 6 self-contained cottages with a hot tub open to a patio with mountain views, all units are fitted with a kitchen with a microwave, seating and a dining area in all units and 2 camping grounds for those who carry own tents.

The camp has spectacular garden views and restaurant which prepares delicious meals, a well-stocked bar, and a 24-hour front desk. Guests at the bed and breakfast can enjoy a continental breakfast.

Cycling can be enjoyed nearby.

RUSHAGA

It is situated in the southern sector of Bwindi with 5 habituated gorilla families. When planning to trek in this area, accommodation should not be your worry. You can also sleep in Nkuringo and still be able to the tracker in Rushaga those 2 sectors are not so far away from one another. Rushaga sector has a variety of accommodation facilities that are affordable ranging from luxury, mid-range to budget.

Luxury

Rushaga Gorilla Safari Lodge

It is situated on the boundary of BWINDI next to the gorilla trekking starting point. It is a relaxed and comfortable facility with eighteen luxury, spacious cottages. Each providing the perfect setting to relax after an exciting day of trekking. The well-appointed cottages all have solar-powered lighting, en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and flush toilets. Individual verandahs offering excellent views of the unspoiled tropical rainforest. Five of the cottages have two rooms (both en-suite and featuring a cozy fireplace) with an inter-joining door making them the ideal choice for families or larger groups of people traveling together.

There is also the spa where you can have a massage after the tiresome gorilla trekking/habituation experience. The main lodge includes a restaurant, bar, lounge and campfire area overlooking the forest.

 

Mid-range

Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

The lodging facility is just 10 minutes’ walk to Rushaga gate of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, has a spectacular view of the park right from your room! It is designed to provide you with high-end comfort and relaxation to be able to enjoy your Gorilla tracking experience, go birding watching and enjoy forest life surrounded by an impressive landscape. At Ichumbi, your comfort is our ultimate goal.

It is made up of  6 Luxury Cottages and 4 Standard Rooms. Each room has en-suite facilities with hot showers and a private balcony to enjoy the spectacular view of Bwindi forest and beautiful landscapes.

The main building has a restaurant, bar with easy access to the cottages, parking yard, and a road that takes you right to the Uganda Wildlife Authority‘s briefing point of the Rushaga gate in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Being in mountainous countryside, the lodge harvests rainwater which is collected in large water tanks and also uses solar electricity.

Budget

Rushaga Gorilla Camp

It is situated on top of a hill right at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable NP. This affordable accommodation is both budget and midrange lodge, a perfect starting point for a unique Gorilla Tracking adventure. The rangers post can be reached within 10 minutes on foot. Its location on a mountain slope guarantees nice views of the national park.

The main building sits on top of the hill overlooking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and facilitates the restaurant, a bar, a craft shop, as well as a small terrace. The main area is characterized by rustic wooden furniture. Every evening campfire is lit at the fireplace just in front of the main building.

The safari tents are built on the slope below the main building, offering a great view of the forest and absolute privacy. The safari tents are furnished with wooden furniture and have private bathrooms with shower, sink, toilet and running hot and cold water. Each tent sits on a wooden raised platform with a private balcony. The cabins are basic rooms which are self-contained.

Nshongi camp

The camp is located few meters from the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Eco-friendly, rustic and warm, locally own, Nshongi Camp is known as the ideal base for Gorilla tracking, viewing and birding, several of the 315 bird species,  many of them endemics and monkeys can be seen here. Sometimes at night, even the bush elephants come close to the camp.

The camp has just 4 traditional bandas and is the perfect place for being connected to nature or for a romantic stay. Camping is also possible in own tent.

 Guests can dine under the stars and relax by the roaring campfire. We serve 3 meals course, and we can prepare a lunch box for your tracking. Rushaga area is a village inhabited by the Batwa and Bafumbira communities, you can visit their communities for having the opportunity to experience a new culture.

A local group called RUSHAGA YOUNG STARS can perform the gorilla dance for free directly in the camp.

Wagtail Eco Camp.

The Lodge is located in Rubuguri village the center point of Gorilla Tracking of Nshongi and Nkuringo Gorilla groups. Offering a unique and ultimate way to experience the panoramic hills of Kigezi as you visit the camp. On your way, you encounter the beautiful scenic volcanoes of the great Virunga and the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Wagtail Eco safari camp is built in Local materials. It is roofed with papyrus and the ceiling of banana fibers, the floor of local stones and the wonderful local furniture. An eco-friendly accommodation facility where nature takes the lead. The call of the birds at night is the music that gives a memorable stay in the camp. You receive the warmest welcomes and friendly impeccable services from the moment you arrive. NKURINGO SECTOR

It is nestled in the southern region of Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park a home to one interesting habituated gorilla family called Nkuringo. The sector has numerous accommodation which is pocket-friendly ranging from Luxury, Mid-range to budget. It is known to have one of the best high-end accommodation facilities.

 

 

Luxury

Clouds Mountain gorilla lodge

Uganda’s intimate, beautiful and highest lodge is set on a forested ridge near the entrance to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge boasts eight spacious cottages built from volcanic stone. Spectacular views stretch all the way to the Virunga Volcanoes of Rwanda, as well as across the border into the Congo, where the glow of Nyiragongo Volcano can be seen on a clear night. With 15 cottages that all derive their names from the attractions surrounding the lodge. The rooms warm up with heat from the gas burners and electric heaters, giving guests the perfect opportunity to cozy-up in the interior lounges with a cup of African coffee or tea.

The rooms are also framed by the large aluminum door & window frames overlooking the Virunga terrace which shelters our main restaurant.

The lodge’s main restaurant and lounge area are called Humura, a translation of the word ‘rest’ in the area local language. Elegant dining offering a variety of buffets, set menus, theme nights and ‘a la carte’ menu, serving local and international cuisine. Special themed tea evenings sampling local teas and beverages.

The facility Earthy vanishing blends with the wooden mahogany ceilings and floors, to create a sophisticated fusion of African elegance. African Hut-shaped chandeliers and African-Wildlife lampshades filter the interior lighting to create the perfect mood for reflection.

  • Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge

It is situated on the Nteko ridge overlooking a beautiful swath of the famous renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The ridge provides a superb vantage across the Kashasha River Valley to the forested hill known as ‘Nkuringo’ and the surrounding swathe of trees of the Bwindi Forest. It provides a prime access point to the start of the amazing activity. The Lodge has panoramic views of the majestic volcanoes of the Virunga chain, across the escarpment into the Albertine Rift Valley within the DRC Congo.

It comprises of Eight Garden Cottages3 Villas made up of 2 interconnecting superior cottages and 1 family Villa with shared balcony, all cottages are hand-crafted using local materials, each cottage featuring a sitting area, fireplace, en-suite bathroom, and private Veranda/Balcony. They offer the tranquility of the rainforest, the atmosphere of a mountain chalet and the warm hospitality Ugandans are known for.

It has waste management policies whereby clients are provided with water in Jars and encouraged to come with the water bottles that they can refill from the dinning to reduce on use of plastic in the Lodge. It also uses solar energy and rainwater harvesting.

The lodge has a restaurant for visitors to enjoy freshly prepared, wholesome meals. Foodstuffs are purchased locally, where possible, to benefit the community. Enjoy our much-loved bread and fresh soups that most of our clients rave about. In the Dining room and the upstairs lounge, you can curl up in one of the sofas with a book and drink by the fireplace.

This exclusive, colorfully designed like a chameleon and vibrant lodge enjoys spectacular views across Lake Mutanda with the Virunga Volcanoes as a magnificent backdrop. As well as being the perfect base to visit the mountain gorillas, one can also enjoy a trip on the hand-built boat available for excursions.

  • Nkuringo Campsite

 It is located a few kilometers before Kisoro town council on the shores of Lake Mutanda adjusts to the Mushengero peninsular overlooking the prominent Virunga Volcanoes and the beautiful swath of the world-renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

 Accommodation is provided at the campsite in three self-contained simple twin-bedded bandas.

The campsite has a simple restaurant and for those self-catering an eating shelter is available for cooking and food preparation. It also serves both international and local cuisine. The safari lodge is well known for its fully stocked bar along with a restaurant that. Hot water can be prepared for bathing. Porters deliver water from the river for visitors. Rainwater harvesting from house roofs is standard practice in the wet season
