Kidepo Valley is a hidden treasure perched in the northeastern part of Uganda surrounded by Mountain Kadam and Morungole bordering South Sudan. The park covers an area of 1,442 km2 and the least visited parks because of its remoteness, however it has started to pick up and quite a number of tourists are booking safaris to this destination. Most of them prefer to fly to the park because of the long journey however use road transport to get the best views along the way with stopovers at Sipi falls, Mountain Elgon National Park, Pian Upe Reserve and Nyero Rock Paintings. The visit the park to enjoy the best game drives in Uganda, birding, cultural encounters with the Karamojong people and nature walks.

Apoka Safari Lodge

The park is endowed with a number of unique animals and birds which can be seen in the dry savannah plains. These include; lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, caracal, aardwolf, greater and lesser kudu, mountain reedbuck and Guenther’s dik-dik. oribis, Burch ell’s zebras, Jackson’s hartebeests, bush pigs, cape buffaloes, Bohor reedbucks, warthogs, defassa waterbucks, Rothschild giraffes, bush duskier and elands, bushbucks, rare patas monkey, baboons, and many others. The Birds; the Kori bustard, Abyssinian ground hornbill, secretary bird, ostrich, carmine, Yellow-billed and Jackson’s hornbills etc. Not forgetting the beautiful eye-catching sceneries with background drops of the domed hills. The near communities with people who have smiling faces who make you feel at home.

It is located in the center of the park with a charming view overlooking the Narus River Valley. It is the only luxury accommodation facility in the park and you will feel at home. It was built with a touch of antiquated fashions and materials with 10 spacious rooms, professional staff that offer excellent customer care. The lodge has a swimming pool which helps you cool off the high temperatures in this region. They have a restaurant which prepares figure licking continental and local dishes plus the well-stocked bar with the best refreshing drinks. Nga’Moru Wilderness camp.

Nga’Moru means ‘the place of rocks’, the campsite overlooks the linked Narus Valley of the park.  It is an absolute place to relax and view wildlife as you enjoy the wilderness feel. It has comfortable en-suite accommodation in either Safari Tents under thatch or Cabanas. The camp offers an exclusive true bush breakfast experience, delicious dishes both local and continental not forgetting the experienced professional staff.  You will also see more wildlife species around the camp as they roam around looking for food. The camp is affordable offering mid-range and budget accommodation at a relatively fair price.

Apoka Rest Camp

This camp is owned by Uganda Wildlife Authority located at the park headquarters. It is a pocket friendly accommodation with self- contained, non-self-contained and camping ground for those who carry their own tents and beddings. The camp doesn’t have a restaurant, travelers carry their own food and pay the cooks at the park.

Other accommodations include; Kara-Tunga safari camp and Kakine Self-Catering Campsite.
