Semuliki wildlife reserve

Semuliki wildlife reserve is located in western Uganda in Ntoroko and Kabarole districts. It was established as a game reserve in 1926 to protect the large number of Uganda kobs.

The reserve is also known for the hot springs, these comprises of the male and female hot springs

Game drives

Game drives in semuliki wildlife reserve are done both at night and during day.

During day expect to see animals like the Uganda kob, waterbucks, warthogs, buffalo and among other animals. While on a night game drive, you may get a chance to see the nocturnal animals like the white-tailed mongoose.

Primate walks

This walk is conducted near Semuliki Safari lodge and takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. While on this walk, you spot chimpanzees, colobus monkeys and baboons.

Community tourism

There is the Karugutu Community Conservation Association in semuliki wildlife reserve. This is a community-based association which offers entertainment through their traditional dance and drama, they also have a craft shop where you can buy souvenirs and support their associations.

Nature walk

While on a nature walk you move through the savannah woodland to the riverine forest. You get a chance to see the vervet monkeys, white colobus monkeys, ground hornbill, baboons, Uganda kobs and warthogs.

Hike to Nyaburogo gorge

This gorge is good for those interested in birding. You hike through the savannah woodland. Birds spotted here include the arrow marked Babbler, tropical boubal, black headed bushrike, and so many other birds.

Primates are also spotted in in Nyaburogo gorge.

Boat ride

A boat ride is done on lake Albert. While on a boat ride, you can see birds like the shoe bills, Blue- headed Coucal, Blue cheeked bee eaters among others.
