Tour Plan
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha.
Depending on your arrival time, the rest of the day is kept relaxed to allow recovery from your journey. You may enjoy a short birding walk around the hotel gardens or nearby green areas where several woodland and urban bird species can already be spotted.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, depart Arusha and begin your journey toward Tarangire National Park.
The drive passes through scenic countryside, Maasai villages, and open savannah landscapes before arriving in the park known for its giant baobab trees, large elephant herds, and impressive birdlife.
Upon entering the park, begin an en route birding game drive toward your lodge. Tarangire supports more than 500 bird species and is especially rewarding for dry country and savannah birds.
Possible sightings include yellow collared lovebirds, kori bustards, hornbills, ostriches, secretary birds, bee eaters, and various eagle species.
Wildlife sightings are also common during the drive, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas, and buffaloes.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge
After an early breakfast, spend the day exploring Tarangire National Park through morning and afternoon birding game drives.
The park’s varied habitats including riverine woodland, open grassland, marshes, and acacia savannah create excellent conditions for bird diversity.
Birders may search for species such as pygmy falcons, white bellied go away birds, northern pied babblers, mousebirds, African hawk eagles, and ashy starlings.
The Tarangire River attracts both birds and wildlife throughout the year, particularly during the dry season when animals gather near permanent water sources.
Lunch may be enjoyed at the lodge or as a picnic within the park depending on the day’s movements.
Return to the lodge in the evening for relaxation.
After breakfast, depart Tarangire and continue toward Lake Manyara National Park.
The park lies at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and is famous for its groundwater forests, soda lake, tree climbing lions, and rich birdlife.
Upon arrival, proceed with a birding game drive through the park’s diverse habitats. Lake Manyara is particularly well known for waterbirds and migratory species.
Possible sightings include flamingos, pelicans, spoonbills, storks, herons, kingfishers, cormorants, and various raptors.
The lush groundwater forest also supports hornbills, turacos, barbets, and forest associated species.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, continue with a morning birding excursion in Lake Manyara National Park.
Morning hours offer excellent opportunities for photography and active bird movement around the lake and forest sections.
After the activity, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The drive gradually climbs into cooler highland terrain with scenic views of valleys, forests, and volcanic landscapes.
Arrive at the crater rim in the afternoon and enjoy panoramic views over the Ngorongoro Crater before checking into your lodge.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of birding and wildlife viewing.
The crater floor supports a rich concentration of wildlife as well as numerous bird species associated with grasslands, wetlands, and lake habitats.
Possible bird sightings include crowned cranes, flamingos, kori bustards, secretary birds, augur buzzards, and ostriches.
The crater is also one of the best places in Tanzania to see black rhinos alongside lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, zebras, and wildebeests.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic site within the crater before continuing with the afternoon game drive.
Ascend back to the crater rim in the late afternoon.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, depart Ngorongoro and continue toward Serengeti National Park.
The journey itself offers scenic views and wildlife sightings as the landscape opens into the endless plains of the Serengeti.
Upon entering the park, begin an en route birding game drive toward your lodge or camp.
The Serengeti hosts an impressive range of savannah bird species including secretary birds, ostriches, vultures, raptors, rollers, and starlings.
Wildlife sightings may include lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and antelope species.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp.
Spend a full day exploring Serengeti National Park with morning and afternoon birding game drives.
The Serengeti ecosystem supports a remarkable combination of predator populations, migratory wildlife, and birdlife across open plains and riverine habitats.
Birding highlights may include Fischer’s lovebirds, secretary birds, martial eagles, vultures, bustards, and numerous weaver species.
Depending on the season, parts of the Great Migration may also be witnessed as wildebeests and zebras move across the plains.
Lunch may be enjoyed as a picnic within the park or at the lodge.
Return to the lodge or camp in the evening.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp
After breakfast, depart Serengeti and continue toward Lake Natron.
Lake Natron is one of East Africa’s most important breeding grounds for lesser flamingos and offers a completely different birding environment compared to the savannah parks.
The surrounding landscape is dramatic, with volcanic terrain, escarpments, and alkaline lake shores creating unique scenery.
Birding around the lake may include flamingos, shorebirds, plovers, sandgrouse, and dry country species adapted to the harsh environment.
Arrive and settle into your lodge while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the area.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, begin the journey back to Arusha.
