This 5 Days Congo Gorilla Tour and Nyiragongo Hike Safari takes you to a spectacular experience of Congo’s undiscovered natural wonders with trips to trek the mountain gorillas in Virunga gorillas, Eastern lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega national park and the adventurous hike to the top of Mount Nyiragongo Volcano. It starts and ends in Rwanda’s capital Kigali.

Tour Plan
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by Engagi Safaris Ltd driver guide who will brief you then transfer to the Lodge as you pass through the beautiful landscape sceneries endowed with unique natural features. Upon arrival, you will check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Nyiragongo Volcano Summit Shelters (Basic)
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bukima the headquarters of Virunga National park for briefing with other trekkers by the ranger guide. While here you will also be assigned a particular gorilla group to trek. After the briefing, you will start the trek lead by the ranger guide in search for the Mountain gorillas. After sometime you will encounter the magnificent creatures their natural environment is a wonderful experience. You will strictly be allowed to spend 1 hour with the gorillas maintaining 7m distance away from them. You will be free to take photos “Flashlight is prohibited”, observe the gorillas and ask from the ranger guides questions. After a successful trek, you can then return back to your lodge for the late meal and relaxation.
Wake early for breakfast, the driver guide will drive you from the lodge to Nyiragongo Volcano Base. . Mount Nyiragongo is an active strata volcano with an elevation of 3,470 m in the Virunga Mountains associated with the Albertine Rift. It has the world’s largest lava lake.
On arrival you will meet other hikers and the ranger guide will brief you about the basics of hiking Nyiragongo to the Nyiragongo volcano will take one about 4-6 hours till you reach the peak. While hiking you will enjoy amazing sights and views of rare birds and small mammal. On reaching the top you will enjoy the view of the lakes of boiling lava and a chance to relax at its peak. It is quite a tiring journey because of the sunshine and high elevation, but worth taking. The trail is through lava rocks, forested areas and the open space for you to enjoy the views. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning views of the boiling lava emitting red glow from the crusted lava .You will have dinner and overnight stay at the tented camps located on the edge of the crater.
After breakfast, it will be time to descend down to the base of Kibat Patrol station from the peak of Nyiragongo. upon reaching down you will either transfer to have an overnight in Kigali or have an overnight stay and transfer to Kigali the next day.
Depending on the time of your flight have the genocide memorial and Kigali city tour and later your Engagi Safaris driver guide will drop you at the Airport for a flight back home
