Tour Overview
This 5 Days Flamingo & Rift Valley Lakes Birding Safari offers an exciting birdwatching journey through some of East Africa’s most scenic and bird rich Rift Valley lake systems. The safari focuses on alkaline lakes, freshwater wetlands, open grasslands, acacia woodland, and escarpment environments that support extraordinary concentrations of flamingos, migratory birds, waterbirds, and savannah species.
The Great Rift Valley is one of Africa’s most important birding regions due to its chain of lakes and wetlands that attract thousands of resident and migratory bird species throughout the year. The safari explores renowned birding destinations including Lake Manyara National Park, Lake Natron, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and surrounding Rift Valley ecosystems.
One of the major highlights of the safari is observing large flocks of lesser flamingos and greater flamingos feeding and breeding around the alkaline lakes. The journey also provides opportunities to search for pelicans, storks, cranes, kingfishers, raptors, bee eaters, hornbills, and various migratory species.
Apart from birdlife, travelers enjoy spectacular Rift Valley scenery, volcanic landscapes, escarpments, Maasai communities, waterfalls, and occasional wildlife sightings including zebras, giraffes, antelope species, and buffaloes.
