On this  5 days Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking tour in Uganda you will join a group of like-minded people who are primate lovers. During this primate safari you may decide to do Gorilla habituation and Chimpanzee habituation rather than just trekking. Gorilla/Chimpanzee habituation allows you to have more time with these primates and you also take part in getting them used to humans with out changing their behaviors  the habituations process take 2 to 3 years. Habituation experience is an experience that you do not have to miss if you are in good shape for hiking and if your budget allows. 5 Days Primate safari Experience in Uganda.

This 5 days Chimpanzee and Gorilla safari is a wholesome adventure to primate lovers,Kibale National park itself is the best primate viewing destination in Africa.  it is also known as a primate capital it is home to 13 primate species the park has a population of more than 1500 chimpanzee individuals and 12 other primate species .during your Chimpanzee trek you will see other primates like Red colobus monkey, the rare I’hoest’s monkey, Black and white colobus monkey, red-tailed monkey, blue monkey, Olive Baboon, grey-cheeked mangabey, Bushbaby, pottos among others a night walk(optional) in this forest offers you a chance to see pottos, owls, bushbabies, genets, and on, rare occasions, small jungle cats. this low land tropical rain forest is also home to 325 bird species and some are native to only this forest. Kibale national park also has rare mammals like Elephants and leopards

This  Chimpanzee and Gorilla safari als0 offers you a great opportunity to explore the hidden treasures of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park while tracking the rare mountain gorillas. This park straddles southwest of Uganda just at the extreme side of the Albertine rift valley. With about 1004 mountain gorillas that still thrive on earth, over 400 individuals call this park their home with approximately 16 groups that are readily available for you to track. The 331 square kilometers protected area isn’t only ideal for you to see these Great Apes in the wild but also offers you a golden opportunity to explore other incredible creatures that are inhabited in this park including over 163 tree species, 1000 flowering plants, 51 reptiles, 27 frogs, 140 fern species, 350 avifaunal species, 200 butterfly species a mention but a few. Day 1. Pick up from the airport /Hotel and transfer to Kibale National Park

Day 2. Chimpanzee trekking/Chimpanzee Habituation evening Bigodi swamp Walk

Day 3. Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi Close to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day 4 Gorilla Trekking /Gorilla Habituation

Day 5 Transfer back to the airport

5 Days Chimpanzee and Gorilla safari experience

Day One: Pick up from the airport and drive to Kibale National park.

You will be welcomed by one of our guides at your hotel or at the airport depending on the time of arrival have a breakfast/lunch refreshment break in Entebbe after head to Kibale Forest – National Park, this is a 5-hour drive, it is an interesting journey through communities, Banana plantations,  beautiful sceneries of Rwenzori Mountains( Mountains of the moon)in the background as you get closer to the park en route you’ll stop and see the rocky historical site near Kyenjojo town. Check in to your lodge dinner and overnight.

Day Two: Chimpanzee Trekking /Habituation Experience.

The day begins early in the morning, After breakfast head to park head equators get guidelines of the day and be told what to expect by the head ranger guide. here you will meet other Chimpanzee visitors of the day you will then be divided into small groups and each group will be assigned a park guide then you proceed for your trek in the forest the guide will be in contact with the ranger that followed the chimpanzees when they moved out of their nests this will help you to find them quickly but it mainly depends on their movements, after finding them you will spend not more than one-hour viewing and learning their behavior, the whole Chimpanzee trekking process can take between 3 to 5 hours.  during the trek, you will enjoy the cool natural breath of this forest spot other primates, birds, butterflies, and natural trees. after drive back to the lodge have lunch relax evening head for  Bigodi Swamp walk where you will also see many primates and birds. Return to the Lodge Dinner and overnight

If you decide to do Chimpanzee habituation you will have the whole day in the Forest, you will start as early as 6 am and curry-packed lunch with you. During Chimpanzee Habituation you are only a group of 4 including the researchers you will find chimpanzees as they move out of their nests where their spent the previous night and spend with them the whole day until they build the nest to sleep in that night. you will learn and see how they spend their day and what they do that involve: feeding, resting, hunting, breastfeeding, communicating, mating among other activities this will also give you a chance and enough time to learn and see other forest inhabitants for the whole day or else when you feel you are done a guide escorts you back to the start where you meet our guide and end your experience, the activity is for the whole day but you can finish at any time you want. Return to the lodge for Dinner and overnight.

Day Three: Travel to Lake Bunyonyi

There are two route options for this journey driving from Kibale National park to lake Bunyonyi which can take about 5 or 7 hours depending on the route you use.

The longer route that goes through fort portal- Kasese and queen Elizabeth national park is longer it will take between 7 to 8 hours. it is longer but more scenic you will see a number of crater lakes, Rwenzori mountains arranges at a closer distance you will most probably see Elephants, antelopes and other animals of queen Elizabeth national park depending on the luck of the day you will also stop over to witness the Uganda equator.

The shorter route goes through Kamwenge- Ibanda- Mbarara -Ntungamo -Kabale this will take about 5 hours it is also an interesting journey through the community, along the road you will see mostly women and children vending fresh fruits, Banana plantations, the long-horned Ankole cows grazing and the beautiful green terraced hill of kigezi

Depending on the route you Chose you will have a stopover for lunch check-in at Lake Bunyonyi Rock resort, relax in the evening with beautiful lake and green terraced hills views, dinner, and overnight.

Day Four: Trekking the Mountain Gorillas

It’s time to see the biggest apes. Today you’ll be trekking mountain gorillas after an early breakfast your guide will remind you of what to pack for the day including packed lunch get ready and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing from the park rangers about the gorilla trekking rules and how the day will look like you will also be allocated a gorilla family to visit at this time. Proceed for the memorable adventure in the forest, it may go for 30 mins-4 hours to find Gorillas depending on their movements. once you meet Gorillas you will have one-hour maximum to see, learn, photograph, and interact with the Gorillas.

If you decide to do Gorilla habituation you will start as early as 7 am whereas Gorilla trekking starts at 8 am when you do habituation you will take  less time to find the Gorillas that is the reason for waking up early so that you find them as they are leaving their nests  the trackers already know where Gorillas spent the night you will spend full 4 hours with the Gorillas in the forest

After the Gorilla visit experience hike back to the park headquarter receive your Gorilla trekking/habituation certificate and drive to back lake Bunyonyi.

Depending on the time you arrive and the fitness you may do any of these activities; relax and put your feet up!, go swimming, or do an island tour or community visit. Dinner and Overnight stay at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort

Day Five: Travel Back to the AirPort 

In the morning after breakfast check out and embark on the journey back to Entebbe

The Journey will take 7-8 hours via stunning countryside views, you will make a stopover at the Uganda Equator ( a landmark to show an imaginary line that divides the earth into 2 equal halves) in Kayabwe. While at this point, you will be able to take photos and also refresh yourself or pay a visit to one of the craft shops to purchase some locally made craft products for your own memories thereafter you will proceed with the journey back to Entebbe airport or at a hotel if your flight is next day

You may decide to travel to Rwanda and flight out from Kigali and the drive will be just about 3 hours .depending on the time of your flight you may visit the genocide memorial to learn about the Rwandan genocide of 1994 then proceed to the airport for your flight.
