The Entebbe area supports several waterbirds, woodland species, and lakeshore birds that provide an excellent introduction to Uganda’s birdlife.

Possible sightings include pied kingfishers, African fish eagles, cormorants, weaver birds, herons, and various sunbird species.

The rest of the evening is reserved for relaxation and preparation for the safari ahead.

Dinner and overnight at Sienna Beach Hotel .

After an early breakfast, transfer to Mabamba Swamp for a guided canoe birding excursion through the papyrus channels.

Mabamba Swamp is internationally recognized as one of the best locations in Africa to search for the elusive Shoebill stork. The swamp’s quiet waterways and extensive papyrus vegetation provide ideal habitat conditions for this rare bird species.

The canoe excursion allows peaceful movement through the wetland while experienced local guides help identify both resident and migratory bird species.

Apart from the Shoebill, possible sightings include papyrus gonolek, African jacana, swamp flycatcher, malachite kingfisher, blue swallow, white winged warbler, purple heron, and several egret species.

The calm environment and close bird encounters create excellent opportunities for photography and observation.

After the excursion, return to the hotel for lunch and relaxation.

Depending on time and bird activity, an additional evening birding walk around nearby wetlands or lakeshore areas may be arranged.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, depart Entebbe and begin the journey southwest toward Lake Mburo National Park.

The drive passes through rural villages, rolling hills, open countryside, and traditional farmlands while offering occasional roadside birding opportunities.

A stop at the Uganda Equator crossing allows time for photography and relaxation before continuing toward the park.

Lake Mburo National Park is Uganda’s smallest savannah national park but one of its richest birding destinations due to its combination of wetlands, lakes, acacia woodland, and grassland habitats.

Arrive in the afternoon and proceed with an evening birding game drive en route to your lodge.

Possible sightings include bare faced go away birds, African finfoot, brown chested lapwings, black bellied bustards, and various acacia woodland species.

Wildlife sightings may also include zebras, impalas, buffaloes, giraffes, and warthogs.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

After an early breakfast, spend the day exploring Lake Mburo National Park through birding game drives, guided nature walks, and wetland excursions.

Morning birding around the lakeshores and swamp areas may reveal species such as African fish eagles, papyrus yellow warblers, African jacanas, kingfishers, herons, cormorants, and fish loving birds around the wetlands.

The acacia woodland sections support hornbills, bee eaters, weavers, starlings, and numerous raptor species.

A boat excursion on Lake Mburo offers additional opportunities to observe waterbirds at close range while enjoying the peaceful scenery of the lake.

Apart from birdlife, the park’s wildlife and scenic landscapes provide excellent opportunities for photography and nature appreciation.

Lunch may be enjoyed at the lodge or as a picnic depending on the day’s activities.

Return to the lodge in the evening for relaxation.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

After breakfast, enjoy a short morning birding activity around the lodge area before beginning the return journey toward Entebbe.
