Tour Overview
This 7-day Albertine Rift Birding Safari in Rwanda is designed for bird enthusiasts seeking to explore Rwanda’s most rewarding birding habitats while targeting several Albertine Rift endemic bird species. Rwanda’s mountainous landscapes, tropical rainforests, wetlands, and volcanic ecosystems make it one of East Africa’s emerging birding destinations despite its relatively small size.
The safari focuses mainly on the rich montane forests and wetlands found within Nyungwe Forest National Park, Volcanoes National Park, and the wetland systems around Akagera National Park.
Rwanda hosts more than 700 bird species, including many Albertine Rift endemics that attract birders from around the world. The country’s organized tourism infrastructure, scenic rolling hills, and relatively short travel distances make it ideal for birding safaris that combine multiple habitats within a limited time.
Alongside birdwatching, travelers experience beautiful tea plantations, volcanic landscapes, bamboo forests, local communities, crater lakes, and savannah environments while enjoying opportunities for photography and wildlife viewing.
