Lake Naivasha is one of Kenya’s richest freshwater birding locations and supports species such as African fish eagles, pied kingfishers, pelicans, cormorants, jacanas, herons, and weaver birds.
The surrounding woodland also provides opportunities to observe hornbills, bee eaters, sunbirds, and various raptor species.
Hippos are commonly seen in the lake while giraffes, zebras, and antelopes may also appear around the surrounding landscapes.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After an early breakfast, continue with a morning birding excursion around Lake Naivasha when bird activity is at its peak.
The calm morning conditions provide excellent opportunities for photography and close observation of waterbirds and shoreline species.
After the activity, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Africa’s most famous birding destinations.
Arrive in the afternoon and continue with an introductory birding game drive through the park.
Lake Nakuru is internationally known for its large concentrations of flamingos during favorable water conditions, as well as pelicans, storks, and many migratory species.
The park’s acacia woodland and grasslands also support species such as African hoopoes, hornbills, bustards, and raptors.
Wildlife sightings may include rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and baboons.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, spend the day exploring Lake Nakuru National Park through morning and afternoon birding game drives.
The park’s mix of alkaline lake habitat, woodland, rocky cliffs, and grassland creates excellent conditions for bird diversity.
Possible sightings include lesser flamingos, greater flamingos, African fish eagles, Goliath herons, marabou storks, grey crowned cranes, and numerous waterbirds.
The cliffs around the park are also known for nesting raptors and occasional sightings of Verreaux’s eagle.
Apart from birdlife, the park is one of Kenya’s best protected rhino sanctuaries and offers excellent opportunities to see both black and white rhinos.
Lunch may be enjoyed at the lodge or as a picnic within the park depending on the day’s movements.
Return to the lodge in the evening for relaxation.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru and continue northward toward Lake Bogoria.
Lake Bogoria is famous for its dramatic volcanic scenery, geothermal springs, and seasonal concentrations of flamingos that gather along the alkaline lake shores.
The area supports numerous waterbirds and dry country species adapted to the Rift Valley environment.
Birding around the lake may include flamingos, stilts, avocets, sandpipers, herons, and various migratory birds depending on the season.
The surrounding acacia woodland also attracts hornbills, rollers, weavers, and raptors.
The geothermal activity around the lake creates unique landscapes with hot springs and steam vents adding to the scenic beauty of the area.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, begin the journey toward Masai Mara National Reserve.
The drive passes through scenic Rift Valley landscapes, local villages, and open plains before reaching one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations.
