Cape town in May

Weather in May: Winter is here in Cape Town, but it’s not hitting too hard. The city is enjoying a pretty mild winter this year. During the day, temperatures usually hover just under 20°C/68°F, but come evening, they can dip to about 10°C/50°F. Looks like we’re in for a few cloudy and rainy days ahead.

• With the colder weather, Cape Town shifts its social scene inside. Now’s a great time to check out indoor markets, enjoy live music nights, catch some theater performances, and watch classic movies at the iconic Labia Theatre.
• Hey, just a heads up! The Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival is happening at the end of the month over at the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch. Sounds like a fun time!
• In the Cape Winelands, Stellenbosch has its annual Oyster & Bubbly festival, and then there’s the Franschhoek Literary Festival, which is all about writers, classical concerts, and some really great dining.
