          Getting to Lake Mburo National Park: Getting to Lake Mburo National Park is an exciting journey with well-established routes both by road and air. The park is conveniently located in Western Uganda, about 228 km from Kampala, making it one of the most accessible national parks in the country.

1. Kampala to Lake Mburo via Masaka-Mbarara Highway
This main route from Kampala follows the well paved Masaka-Mbarara highway. After Masaka town, you will about 60km to reach Sanga Gate or Nshara Gate which are the main entrances to the park. The junction to the park is well marked with a signage and so getting there is just with ease. You will have stop overs en route to the park in Masaka town for refreshments or fuel and at the Equator crossing at Kayabwe for photos and souvenirs. The distance covered throughout the whole journey is approximately 228km that will take 4 to 5 hours by car.
2. From Mbarara Town
Travelers from western regions and those coming from Queen Elizabeth National Park can access Lake Mburo via Mbarara, making it an ideal stopover. 66km approximately will be covered till the park is reached.
3. From Kabale/Kisoro
This route is ideal for those exploring southern Uganda. It offers breathtaking views of the rolling hills and agricultural terraces. This route will leave you in wonders and appreciation of the nature creation in Kigezi region. About 120km will be covered upto the park.
Whereas one may prefer to use air transport for a quicker and more comfortable journey, they will as well enjoy the aerial views of the countryside by chartered flights which are readily available.
The flight will start from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip which is closer to Kampala, capital city of Uganda. The flight during is approximately 1 hour hence landing to Mbarara Airstrip which is the nearest to Lake Mburo National Park. From airstrip, take a short drive of 1 hour to the park’s enttance.

And for those that intend to use public transport, local buses and shared minibuses are available to Mbarara or Sanga. From there, you can hire a private taxi or boda-boda that is a motorcycle to the park entrance.
