Uganda Ranked 4th Best Destination In the World

2024 has begun with great news and for enthusiastic travelers in search of unusual experiences in Africa, there is one place to look out for and that is Uganda. Lying in the heart of East Africa, Uganda has been listed by Bradt Guides as the 4th best place to travel to for you to enjoy a holiday.

Uganda was not only recognized but also 4 of its 10 national parks also featured among the most outstanding places to visit. They include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Rwenzori Mountains National Park.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park –lying in the Southwestern part of the country, Bwindi is home to unique mountain gorillas and a visit to this park brings you on a close interaction with these massive apes while in their natural habitat. Over 459 out of 1063 endangered mountain gorillas all live in Bwindi alone and treks are conducted on any of the 20 habituated gorilla families.

Go marvel at the scenic Murchison Falls and abundant wildlife surviving in the various habitats of the park. The Murchison Falls is renowned for its powerful roar and while here, get a chance to witness this magical natural wonder as it squeezes itself into a narrow rock measuring about 7-8 meters forming a surging cascade.

Visit Rwenzori Mountains- conquer the great heights of this snow-capped block mountain. Getting to the summits of Rwenzori Mountains is possible on the Central Circuit, Kilembe trail and Bukurungu trail. Aside from hiking/mountaineering adventures, there are some interesting fauna to encounter including l’hoest monkeys, chimpanzees, Rwenzori duikers, black and white colobus monkeys, hyrax and birds, especially Albertine rift endemics.

How you can be part of Uganda experiences

You can take off from the UK to Uganda on a flight from London Heathrow/Gatwick up to Entebbe International Airport (EBB). The flight may cover between 8 and 10 hours. There are other destinations served by Uganda Airlines that offer easier connections to Entebbe where you can begin your road trip to any remotest part of the country or still connect to your favorite destination by flight.

When to visit Uganda

Uganda’s destinations are most accessible during the dry seasons or months that is from June to September or December, January to February. During these peak dry months of the year, the weather conditions are favorable for gorilla trekking, game viewing, chimpanzee tracking, golden monkey tracking, mountaineering, and other experiences.
