Tanzania
All About Tanzania
Tanzania is a country where adventure comes naturally. From the famous Serengeti plains to the sparkling beaches of Zanzibar, this East African nation is packed with natural beauty, wildlife, and warm, welcoming people. Whether you want to watch millions of animals move across the savannah, climb Africa’s highest mountain, or relax by the Indian Ocean, Tanzania has something for everyone.
Bordered by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, and the Indian Ocean, Tanzania is one of the most diverse countries in Africa. Its more than 120 ethnic groups and many languages make every visit unique and interesting.
A Glimpse into Tanzania’s History
Tanzania’s history stretches back far into the past. The Olduvai Gorge is known as the “Cradle of Mankind” because of its ancient fossils. Over the centuries, powerful kingdoms grew here, and the coast was shaped by Arab, Indian, and European traders. In the late 1800s, Tanzania became a German colony, and later came under British control. In 1964, Tanganyika and Zanzibar joined to form the United Republic of Tanzania. Today, the country is known for its unity, stability, and rich culture.
Tanzania’s Climate and Geography
Tanzania has a little bit of everything—wide open plains, mountains, lakes, forests, and islands. The climate changes from region to region. The coast is hot and humid, the highlands are cooler, and the central areas are dry. Dry seasons run from June to October and January to February, which are perfect for safaris. The rainy seasons are from March to May and from November to December, bringing lush scenery and great birdwatching.
Why Visit Tanzania?
Tanzania is a dream for anyone who loves wildlife, nature, or adventure. The country is home to the Serengeti National Park, where the Great Migration takes place each year. You can also find the Ngorongoro Crater, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the white-sand beaches of Zanzibar. From safaris and hiking to snorkeling, diving, and learning about local cultures, Tanzania offers a wide range of experiences for every traveler.
