Zambia is endowed with a rich tourism sector comprising of a diverse cultural heritage with
over 30 traditional celebrations happening thought the year. The waterfalls, rivers, lakes, hot
springs and the protected areas make the country stand out in offering exclusive tourism
services. The major travel activities there include; game drives, canoeing, nature walks, rock
climbing, bungee jumping, sport fishing and orienting among others. Zambia prides in over 20
National Parks and 34 game management areas covering over 10% of the country’s total land
area. Some of the major places visit in Zambia includes; the mighty victoria falls, South Luangwa
National Park, North Luangwa National Park, Kansaka National Park, Bangweulu Wetlands,
Kafue National Park and the Liuwa Plain among others. Zambia prides a variety of wildlife
elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Buffaloes, Zebras, Wildebeests, White and Black Rhinos, lions,
leopards, Cheetah and hyenas among others.
The other unique feature about Zambia tourism sector is the large number of leopards and
lions, the total population of lions is 2500 in the different national parks. The big number of
specific wildlife species like lions and leopards has given room for legalization of hunting to
reduce on their number. Notable also is the largest wildebeest migration at the Liuwa Plain.
