Mabamba is one of the best places in Africa to search for the rare Shoebill stork. The swamp’s extensive papyrus vegetation and quiet waterways create ideal habitat conditions for this iconic bird species.

The canoe excursion allows close observation and excellent photography opportunities while exploring the peaceful wetland ecosystem.

Other possible sightings include papyrus gonolek, African jacana, swamp flycatcher, blue swallow, malachite kingfisher, white winged warbler, and several heron and egret species.

After the excursion, return to Entebbe for lunch and relaxation.

After breakfast, depart Entebbe and begin the journey northward toward Murchison Falls National Park.

The drive passes through rural villages, open countryside, and scenic landscapes before reaching Uganda’s largest national park.

Possible sightings include Abyssinian ground hornbills, black headed lapwings, secretary birds, and several savannah bird species.

After breakfast, spend the day birding within Murchison Falls National Park.

Morning birding game drives through savannah and woodland habitats may reveal species such as martial eagles, bee eaters, Denham’s bustards, Senegal thick knees, and hornbills.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile toward the base of Murchison Falls.

The river supports numerous waterbirds including African fish eagles, pelicans, kingfishers, cormorants, Goliath herons, and saddle billed storks.

Wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos are commonly seen along the riverbanks.

After breakfast, transfer to Budongo Forest for a full day forest birding experience.

Budongo is one of Uganda’s richest tropical forests and is especially known for species such as Puvel’s illadopsis, chocolate backed kingfisher, white thighed hornbill, yellow footed flycatcher, and African dwarf kingfisher.

The forest trails provide immersive birding conditions beneath towering mahogany trees while also offering opportunities to see primates such as chimpanzees and black and white colobus monkeys.

After breakfast, depart Budongo and continue southwest toward Kibale National Park.

The drive passes tea plantations, crater lakes, forests, and scenic countryside landscapes as you enter western Uganda’s rainforest region.

Possible sightings include green breasted pitta, little greenbul, yellow spotted barbet, black capped apalis, crowned eagle, and African grey parrot.

In the afternoon, continue birding at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, famous for species such as the great blue turaco, papyrus canary, and white spotted flufftail.

Begin the day with an early morning birding game drive through the Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The channel is one of Uganda’s richest waterbird habitats and offers sightings of pelicans, spoonbills, cormorants, fish eagles, and kingfishers.

Depending on arrival time, a short evening birding walk around the lodge area may be arranged.

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before beginning the gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The trek takes visitors through dense rainforest and mountainous terrain in search of one of the habituated mountain gorilla families.

Once the gorillas are located, visitors are allowed one hour to observe and photograph them while learning about their behavior and social structure.

Apart from gorillas, Bwindi is also one of Africa’s finest forest birding destinations with opportunities to spot Albertine Rift endemic species during the trek and surrounding walks.

Possible sightings include handsome francolin, regal sunbird, mountain masked apalis, and Rwenzori batis.

After the experience, return to the lodge for relaxation.
