This 14-day Uganda Ultimate Birding Safari is designed for passionate birders and nature enthusiasts seeking a comprehensive exploration of Uganda’s richest birding destinations. Known as one of Africa’s top birding countries, Uganda hosts more than 1,090 bird species within a relatively small geographical area, making it one of the continent’s most rewarding birdwatching destinations.
This safari combines wetlands, tropical rainforests, montane forests, savannah plains, crater lakes, riverine ecosystems, and papyrus swamps while targeting a wide variety of bird species including Albertine Rift endemics, forest specialists, waterbirds, migratory species, and savannah birds.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver guide and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe.
Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short evening birding walk around the hotel gardens or nearby shores of Lake Victoria where several waterbirds and woodland species may already be spotted.
The day is kept relaxed to allow you to settle in and prepare for the birding safari ahead.

After an early breakfast, transfer to Mabamba Swamp for a guided canoe birding excursion through the papyrus wetland channels.
Mabamba is internationally famous as one of the best places in Africa to search for the rare Shoebill stork. The wetland also supports numerous papyrus and aquatic bird species.
Possible sightings include papyrus gonolek, African jacana, swamp flycatcher, blue swallow, malachite kingfisher, white winged warbler, and various herons and egrets.
The canoe excursion offers peaceful birding conditions and excellent photography opportunities.
After the activity, return to the hotel for relaxation.

After breakfast, depart Entebbe and begin the journey northward toward Murchison Falls National Park.
The drive passes through rural villages, farmlands, and scenic countryside landscapes before reaching Uganda’s largest national park.
Upon arrival, proceed with an evening birding game drive toward your lodge.
Possible sightings include Abyssinian ground hornbills, secretary birds, black headed lapwings, and several savannah bird species.
Dinner and overnight at Pakuba Safari lodge.
After breakfast, spend the day birding within Murchison Falls National Park.
The park supports a wide variety of habitats including riverine woodland, grasslands, wetlands, and acacia savannah.
Morning birding game drives may reveal species such as martial eagles, Denham’s bustards, Senegal thick knees, bee eaters, hornbills, and various raptors.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile toward the base of Murchison Falls.
The river supports numerous waterbirds including African fish eagles, kingfishers, pelicans, cormorants, saddle billed storks, and Goliath herons.
Wildlife sightings along the riverbanks include elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, and antelopes.

After breakfast, transfer to Budongo Forest for a full day forest birding experience.
Budongo is one of Uganda’s richest mahogany forests and is especially famous for the rare Puvel’s illadopsis.
Possible sightings include chocolate backed kingfisher, white thighed hornbill, yellow footed flycatcher, African dwarf kingfisher, Ituri batis, and numerous forest specialists.
Apart from birds, the forest is also home to chimpanzees and other primates that may occasionally be seen during the walk.
Return to the lodge in the evening.

After breakfast, depart Budongo and continue southwest toward Kibale National Park.
The drive offers scenic views of tea plantations, crater lakes, and rolling hills as you move into western Uganda’s rainforest region.
Arrive in the evening and settle into your lodge near the forest.
Dinner and overnight at Kibale Rock lodge.
After breakfast, begin birding in Kibale National Park.
Possible sightings include green breasted pitta, little greenbul, African grey parrot, yellow spotted barbet, black capped apalis, and crowned eagle.
In the afternoon, continue to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, famous for species such as the great blue turaco, white spotted flufftail, and papyrus canary.
Return to the lodge in the evening.

The scenic drive passes crater lakes, rural communities, and open savannah landscapes.

Begin the day with an early morning birding game drive across the Kasenyi plains.
The area supports secretary birds, bustards, hornbills, bee eaters, eagles, and several grassland species.
After lunch, proceed for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.
The channel is one of Uganda’s richest waterbird habitats and offers sightings of pelicans, spoonbills, fish eagles, cormorants, kingfishers, and storks.
Wildlife sightings along the shores are also common.

After breakfast, depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and continue toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Spend the day birding within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of Africa’s finest forest birding destinations.
Possible sightings include African green broadbill, Shelley’s crimsonwing, handsome francolin, mountain masked apalis, Rwenzori batis, and regal sunbird.
The forest environment provides immersive birding conditions with dense vegetation and rich biodiversity.
Return to the lodge in the evening.

After breakfast, continue toward Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
The park’s volcanic landscapes and bamboo forests support several Albertine Rift endemic bird species.
Enjoy an evening birding walk around the lower slopes and forest edges.

After breakfast, enjoy birding in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Possible sightings include Rwenzori turaco, dusky crimsonwing, scarlet tufted malachite sunbird, and collared apalis.
Later, depart for Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park known for acacia woodland bird species.
Arrive in the evening and settle into your lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, enjoy a morning birding game drive in Lake Mburo National Park.
Possible sightings include African finfoot, papyrus yellow warbler, brown chested lapwing, bare faced go away bird, and various acacia woodland species.
After the activity, begin the return journey to Entebbe with a stop at the Uganda Equator crossing for photography and relaxation.
Lunch will be enjoyed en route before continuing to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
